What is DogBase used for?

DogBase is a training, health, and operations platform for working dog teams. Handlers log training sessions, deployments, and incidents, track vet visits and medications in the Health Center, and get AI summaries of what their data shows. It's used by SAR, law enforcement, detection, sport, and service dog programs in 10+ countries, and it scales from one handler and one dog to multi-location units.

How is DogBase different from tracking K9 training in spreadsheets or WhatsApp?

Spreadsheets and group chats hold notes. They don't give you a structured record. In DogBase every session follows the same format for every handler, and conditions like GPS, weather, wind, and temperature are captured automatically. Each record carries a server-stamped saved time that can't be backdated, and every edit is versioned. You can search the full history, compare dogs, and export to PDF, Excel, or CSV.

Does DogBase work on a phone in the field?

Yes. DogBase has native iOS and Android apps and also runs in any browser. Handlers log sessions from the training area while it's fresh instead of rebuilding notes from memory later. Every session automatically captures GPS location, terrain imagery, weather, temperature, wind, visibility, air quality, and sunrise and sunset times, so the conditions are on the record without extra typing.

Can DogBase match the way our team already trains?

Yes. The Custom Type Builder lets you create your own training types and action types with your own fields, scoring, and outcomes, in your team's terminology. You can start from a library of 15+ action types, including a K9 Deployment Log. And if you'd rather not set it up yourself, DogBase will build your first custom training type for free.

Who owns our K9 data and where is it stored?

Your team owns its data. DogBase hosts it on Google Cloud in the United States, and you can export records to PDF, Excel, or CSV at any time or share a single record by link. Access is controlled by roles: Admin or Member, user types for Dog Handler, Trainer, and Viewer, and three visibility levels so people see all records, their team's records, or only their own.
